The substantial 6 pillar movement with 9.5" x 6.5" plates, deadbeat escapement, maintaining power with twin barrels, winding from the rear with both great wheels driving the five wheel going train.
The foliate engraved backplate signed Bartley & Eggert, Temple Cloud, between the winding squares & with cutout
to lower edge. Very heavy brass bob attached to 6' rod. Now with 2 brass cased weights & 24" convex dial.
The partnership of Mark Bartley & D Eggert is recorded in "The Clockmakers of Bristol" as operating from 2 Nicholas Street 1810 -1814. This actual clock is mentioned in "Clockmakers of Somerset". It was reputably removed from Ston Easton House C.1960.
